Manager Local Operations Job Description:

Leads and manages Business Service and Network Technicians; encourages teamwork and productivity; manages functions involving installation and repair of all CPE - CEE, utilizes all aspects of workforce management; monitors adherence of safety practices; monitors and controls expenses; monitors vehicles; provides budget inputs; promotes positive company image to the public; possess strong writing skills, computer and oral communications skills; performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages Business Service and Network Technicians; Inspects and reviews work done by each technician on a regular basis for quality of work; ensures technicians are following the correct procedures; initiates disciplinary actions as required; maintains personnel records in preparation for annual reviews. Responsible for the entire network (switch, collo, transport) in assigned/designated area.
  2. Manages functions involving installation and repair and maintenance of CPE/CEE/Network: Analyzes trouble patterns and repeat reports to reduce the number of troubles and repeat reports; creates Sales request; monitors progress of CPE/CEE/Network jobs and inspects after completion; schedules and coordinates job cut-over; handles after hours problems and calls for their supervisory area; covers for other supervisory areas as needed.
  3. Utilizes all aspects of workforce management: Monitors tasks and works with planner to make needed adjustments; prepares monthly work schedule; monitors employee status all during the day; monitors employee performance reports; inputs works requests.
  4. Monitors adherence of safety practices: Provides and records safety training and hazard communications and ensures everyone follows safety rules and procedures on a daily basis; maintains OSHA records; investigates and completes accident reports.
  5. Monitors and controls expenses: Monitors controllable expenses; pays local bills using the Corporate Card program ; controls inventory levels in the office and on the technician's vehicles.
  6. Monitors building, grounds, and vehicles: Inspects and maintains all building, grounds, and vehicles.
  7. Provides budget inputs: Prepares budget inputs for needed tools and test sets and identifies plant needing replacement or relief.
  8.  Promotes positive company image to the public: Works with city official, county officials, and local customers to maintain a positive image of Windstream.
  9. Requires positive attitude and complex problem-solving skills. Must be able to work with other Windstream support groups and have exceptional customer interaction skills as well as possess strong writing skills, computer and verbal communications skills.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

College degree and 5-7 years professional level experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience; or 9 years related technical and/or telephony experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical level related experience required.
