About the Windstream Finance & Accounting Leadership Program

WFLP is designed to attract highly motivated and talented individuals. Each employee in the program is assigned to a series of teams strategic to the company’s mission and vision. These remote roles require immersion into the company’s financial strategy and adoption of their team’s practices and procedures, as well as provide exposure to upper management. The Finance Leadership Program equips participants for future finance and accounting management roles.

Accountability

  • Accountability involves taking ownership of situations that you're involved in. Seek to become knowledgeable in all areas of your responsibility.

Agility

  • Agility is defined as embracing an organization’s culture, leadership, and strategy. Having the ability to work with insight, flexibility, and confidence in response to challenging and changing circumstances.

Social Intelligence

  • Social Intelligence is the Capacity to know oneself and to know others. Refers to a person's ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships, seek change, and embrace opportunities to maximize work output.

Ambition

  • Ambition refers to the internal drive to achieve goals in your professional career. Aspiring to excel in your position(s), and to go above-and-beyond the responsibilities given by management.

WFLP Internship Structure

Windstream Finance and Accounting Leadership Interns achieve practical corporate business experience while interacting with professionals at all levels of the company and gain an outlook on future career paths. The internship program is a great source of full-time employment for candidates seeking to learn more about Windstream, our business, and career opportunities. Interns will receive mentoring throughout the program from members of the management team and/or members of the Windstream Leadership Program. The program also features a series of informative sessions with Windstream senior executives. Responsibilities will mirror those given to first-year accounting and finance professionals based on workgroup - including the analysis of monthly financial results, creating/booking journal entries, performing account reconciliations, handling of vendor collections and invoice processing and customer circuit quoting. Interns may also participate in the month-end close process, monthly financial reviews, and operational field audits where they will have the opportunity to present results from their area of responsibility to management. Networking, training, job-shadowing, special projects, and team outings are also offered to all interns.

Windstream IT Internship Program

The Windstream IT Internship program submerges participants in the fast-paced world of software development. The program equips participants with real-life experience and skills necessary to succeed in IT and it gives candidates the opportunity to build connections and showcase their talents to managers who may be hiring for full-time positions.

IT Interns work alongside seasoned professionals in one of several cutting-edge areas of technology, including Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics. The intern developer will learn to deliver software using Agile methodologies, gain exposure to continuous integration/deployment and cloud-based computing, and learn to deliver software that is designed to protect itself from outside threats.

Here are a few other perks of being an IT intern at Windstream:

Engineering Development Program

The Windstream Engineering Development Program (EDP) offers participants an opportunity to receive mentorship from senior leaders and exposure to a variety of Windstream’s Engineering workgroups.

This rotational program is customized to align with the skills and interests of each participant. EDP participants develop a variety of engineering skills needed in the telecom industry.

If you are preparing for a career in Engineering organization including Voice & Applications Engineering, IP Engineering, Transport Network Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Broadband Engineering, Outside Plant Engineering, Network Business Intelligence, Network Operations and Architecture & Technology, then this is a great opportunity for you!

When We Interview & Hire:Fall semester

Position Location(s):Evansville, IN, Charlotte, NC, Greenville, SC, Lexington, KY and Little Rock, AR

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Full-time positions: Seniors – Must graduate by Spring Semester (December and/or May graduates)
  • Summer Internships: Must have completed Junior level hours by Spring Semester and preferably be one year or less from entering the workforce
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology and/or related majors
  • 3.2 + GPA requirement
