Position Overview:

  • Implement, cards, optics and circuits installation for IP Device install team.  Be a installation subject matter expert for various IP Platforms. 
  • Implement, cards, optics and circuits installation for Voice install team.  Be an installation subject matter expert for various IP Platforms. 
  • Test and turnup of IP, Security, and Voip devices in a multi vendor environment.
  • Installation and disconnections of class 5 and next gen voice trunking.
  • Perform duties centered around installation, groom and disconnect activity for TDM circuits from DS3 to DS0 and IP circuits.  

Work shift determined by current workload.   Shifts are subject to change due to workload.  Shift is 8am-5pm, Short notice schedule changes to support grooms and escalations (maintenance window).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate installation of cards and optics for voice and IP gear.
  • Provision circuits within the network elements and coordinate testing as needed for circuit transport paths.
  • Perform pre-testing and turnup, both coordinated or non-coordinated of voice circuits.
  • Dispatch and coordinate with LECs/Vendors and/or WIN Operations technicians if wiring and/or DSX cross-connects need to be made or testing needs to occur.
  • Perform Layer 1 trouble shooting as needed on circuit paths.
  • Complete daily updates as to order activity in all appropriate WIN MSS databases.

Skills:

Required

  • Advance working knowledge of IP hardware and OS. Experience in Nokia, Cisco, and Juniper preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of TDM networking, particularly experienced with Titan 5500, 532, Alcatel 1631/1630, Lucent DMX, Tadiran, and Turin 2000 DACs platforms.
  • Advanced working knowledge of DS3 to DS0 level TDM networking, particularly experienced with provisioning circuits on Adtran 2800, 2820, and Carrier Access Mux.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of MSS (Metasolve) OSS systems with a good understanding of circuit inventory and design as it pertains to reading circuit layouts (CLRs)
  • Working knowledge of DS1 TDM networking, particularly experienced with testing circuits and trunking on 5ESS, G9, Meta, DMS, and Sonus switches. 

Qualifications:

Associate Degree in a technical discipline or 2-4 years technical experience with 2+ years directly related to the job.  College hours or a college degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.
