Participate in the implementation of an integrated enterprise event management system to collect, correlate, and report faults, events, and performance trends from business processes and components.

Become part of an Engineering team designing the next generation event management and analytics platform for a fortune 500 Telecommunications provider. At Windstream, the Engineering Organization governs the strategy and implementation of the next Generation of Alarm Monitoring and Automation. We help Network Operations, Access, Enterprise and other internal partners identify, track and prevent or resolve incidents within SLA.   

We are looking for an Experienced Developer/Administrator to mature the current infrastructure (Netcool NOI) and can assist in our growth to support business insight, analytics and machine learning. We need someone with experience implementing solutions across the NOI Platform as well as evaluating other next generation options for growth.

  

What you’ll do:

  • You will be part of a team establishing a development environment, testing new features and technology and documenting the process of promoting changes to the production system.
  • Partner with internal customers to understand and interpret solution requirements.
  • Requirements gathering, analysis, design and implementation of new monitoring solutions for devices, appliances or custom applications
  • Configure Development environments to mimic and test production scenarios
  • Document Development testing and use cases
  • Create and deliver procedures for implementation into production
  • Support production IT teams in the implementation of the production environment
  • Assure delivered products are tested and stable before handoff
  • Learn new technologies and methods of alarm and event management.  Develop and deliver new technology to the production teams.
What you have:
  • Ability to work in a rapid paced environment and must be able to work independently.
  • Direct experience with Enterprise monitoring and management technologies
  • Be responsible for the configuration of the Enterprise level IT monitoring system, IBM's ITM Netcool Suite of products including NOI, ITNM, Impact, etc.
  • Strong scripting / programming background (Perl, SNMP, SQL, PHP, Python, & shell scripting)
  • Experience with Performance tuning of monitoring products, specifically optimizing database queries from the rule base.
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, TL1 and SNMP Management Protocols
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a systems engineer, developer, integrator, and implementer
  • Strong technical leadership skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and persistence.
  • Ability to understand strategic direction and target architecture.
  • Capable of understanding cross-platform distribution/migration processes, and to document, develop and implement more efficient and reliable procedures.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills.
Preferred: 
  • Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Hive, Splunk, SPARK, and Kafka
  • Experience with other Event Management systems such as Moogsoft, Nagios and Zabbix
  • Experience with end-to-end solution architecture for data capabilities including: 
    • Experience with ELT/ETL development
    • Experience with Advanced Analytics (SAS, R, Python)
    • Experience with Graph and In-memory databases
    • Experience with Machine Learning techniques and practices
    • Experience with Agile, Test Driven Code Development and SCM tools
  • Fluent understanding of best practices for building Data Lake and analytical architectures on Hadoop


Job Requirements

Education and Experience: 

College degree and 5-7 years experience or 9 + years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.Desired Qualifications: Ability to stay current with the economical and technological developments in the industry.
