Business Intelligence Engineer

 About the Role:

  • The Business Intelligence Engineer on the N2O (Network to OSS) Development team works in a fun, challenging, and fast-paced environment using Agile methodologies to author SQL logic and construct Tableau dashboards using prepared datasets crafted from Operations Support System(OSS) and Network data. In this role, you will focus almost exclusively on broadening the reach and depth of Windstream’s N2O project. The position uses analytical skills and a data driven approach to inform and support key Data Integrity initiatives which are pivotal to the evolution of both Windstream’s network and business model. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with the Network Business Intelligence, Data Integrity Teams, and Engineering organization partners to help solve organizational challenges and to provide high quality data to assist with making data informed decisions. 
  • Develop PL/SQL to match network element data from Oracle’s Metasolv Solution (OSS) to vendor Element Management System(EMS) data. 
  • Research vendor EMS platforms and understand the collection of Network data directly from devices via SNMP/TL1/etc. to understand nuances of each and how they fit into our network topology. 
  • Collect, manipulate, and analyze large sets of data from multiple sources to identify trends, connect findings, and make cohesive and creative recommendations that support the organization’s goals. 
  • Create effective and easy to understand reporting solutions (i.e. dashboards, metrics, reports). 
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use. 
  • Manage projects through to completion. 
  • Manage work through Agile tools/methodology, collaborative repositories, issue tracking platforms, and wikis. 

Do You Have?

  • Strong Oracle SQL experience, DML/DDL (PL-SQL, T-SQL, etc) 
  • Strong Metasolv experience and understanding of Equipment and Circuit Modeling 
  • Strong communications and collaboration skills; ability to easily convey messages to different audience 
  • Highly organized and meticulous 
  • Self-starter, relentlessly curious, resourceful, collaborative, and inventive 
  • Drive to succeed and improve personally to add value to the role, team, and company 
  • Positivity, and the desire to solve problems in elegant and creative ways 

Even Better:

  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git 
  • Experience with any of the following platforms 
  • JIRA 
  • Confluence 
  • Fisheye 
  • MS Visio (or comparable) 
  • Agile Planning understanding 
  • 5 or more years’ experience with Oracle’s Metasolv Solution (MSS) 
  • 5 or more years previous telecom experience and telecommunications networking understanding 
  • 2 or more years’ experience with Business Intelligence software (E.g., Tableau, SAP Crystal Reports, Qlik) 
  • Experience working with large, disparate data sets 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 

Working Conditions 

  • This position is a full-time role. 
  • You will be provided a laptop, monitors, and peripherals.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

College degree and 3-5 years experience or 7 years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.Desired Qualifications: Ability to stay current with the economical and technological developments in the industry.
