About the Role:
The Sr. Consultant – Network is a senior level individual contributor who will focus on the management and optimization of Kinetic’s dark fiber, conduit and infrastructure assets. The candidate must be a senior level individual with strong technical knowledge of fiber characteristic, deployment and maintenance of fiber and fiber related systems. They will have broad knowledge of dark fiber providers and their associated footprints. The candidate must also possess strong network transport equipment knowledge to validate acquired fiber meets the equipment specifications. Candidate will manage all vendor engagements from acquisition and technical discussions through the end of the IRU/lease of the fiber cable. Primary responsibilities will include the management of existing contracts, negotiation of new and renewal contracts and be able to discuss with a dark fiber provider the technical attributes of the acquired fiber to ensure the fiber will support the transport, IP and voice systems that will utilize the fiber.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead forward looking lease / IRU renewal evaluation efforts coordinating with peer groups for continued network / customer need, consolidation, or termination.
- Create and negotiate partnership business models for fiber/network swap opportunities.
- Work across multiple lines of business and departments to assess technical inputs from Windstream engineering and financial teams to create plans to acquire, renew or replace fiber routes.
- Develop project scope, budget and business cases for acquisition, renewal, and replacement of dark fiber routes.
- Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership.
- Interface with fiber providers to negotiate price and terms as well as conduct contract analysis, negotiation, and execution.
- Develop and manage vendor relationships.
- Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
- Support contract analysis and negotiation as needed in support of the execution of new dark fiber agreements for income related contracts.
- Track cost savings efforts for acquisition, renewals, and terminations of dark fiber IRU/leases.
- Create Service Orders and contracts in connection with new IRU’s and leases.
- Support OSP construction teams for implementation of dark fiber sales.
- Drive enhancements to standard contract templates.
- Attend trade shows as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Do You Have?
- Experience engaging with engineers to assess their equipment needs as they relate to fiber and translate the requirements to each fiber provider to create an actionable plan to acquire, install, test, and accept new fiber.
- Be able to compare competitive vendor submissions to assess the financial impacts to Kinetic and then create a business case which substantiates the findings and optimizes Kinetic expenses. Once fiber is acquired, the candidate will ensure all systems; GIS, LeaseNet, MSS etc. are updated with the new accurate data.
- Experience driving a strategy which best accelerates expense reductions while improving the network infrastructure.
- Experience working with a variety of projects.
Even Better:
- Highly analytical with ability to manage large, complex data sets with broad technical acumen in the telecom discipline.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
- Familiarity with mapping, database and billing systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in Engineering or a related field and 8+ years professional level experience; or 12+ years professional level experience.
- Strong understanding of Telecom infrastructure including real estate facilities, ISP, OPS, optical/TDM transport networks and fiber architectures and how each component inter-links.
- Strong understanding of interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs.
- Knowledge of construction options and fiber build materials.

The pay range for this position is $105,600 to $141,300.
