The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities include design and planning of Fixed Wireless circuits, circuit activation, network and customer support, evaluation of Fixed Wireless technologies, as relates to a service provider. Responsibilities also include testing new features and services and providing short- and long-term network engineering guidance. 

  •  Monitor, maintain, configure and troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper routers/switches 

  • Monitor, maintain, configure and troubleshoot fixed wireless backbone 

  • Level 2/3 Fixed Wireless and/or network troubleshooting 

  • Working knowledge of various Fixed Wireless technologies in licensed and unlicensed spectrum, Point to Point, Point to Multi-point, and Multipoint Mesh topologies,  

  • Network Capacity Planning  

  • Support installation and configuration of network equipment 

  • Support planning of new customer connections and Fixed Wireless market builds 

  • Test and accept new network equipment and/or services 

  • Maintain service documentation, logs, preventative maintenance records, and trouble tickets 

  • Write and Publish Technical Specification Documents (TSDs) that are vendor-specific and include provisioning and troubleshooting guidelines 

  • There is an ‘on-call’ rotation that you will be expected to participate in once trained 

 

Desired Requirements 

  • College degree and/or 5+ years equivalent related Fixed Wireless/Network Engineering/technical experience. 

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking, protocols, design, implementation, and operation 

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP routing and protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, subnetting). 

  • Strong knowledge of Layer2 network protocols (STP, VLANs, Ethernet, LACP). 

  • Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS troubleshooting and configuration. 

  • Experience with fixed wireless broadband (point-to-point, point-to-multipoint) is preferred. Willingness to learn is a requirement! 

  • Good understanding of the Telecommunications industry, in depth knowledge of one or more engineering disciplines and vendor equipment 

  • Experience with Linux (esp. Fedora/RedHat/CentOS) is preferred. 

  • Strong computer skills in a Windows PC/Server LAN environment. 

  • Excellent analytical and project management skills 

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills 

  • Strong technical writing skills
