Specialist III - Ntwk Planning will have technical expertise in reading CLR/DLR designs and determine the network solution and required network components needed to fulfill the order or confirm network components to complete circuit testing successfully from point A to point Z. Specialist will directly access network elements to complete configuration work required on cross connects and loop circuit testing. Specialist must have the ability to configure, troubleshoot, and resolve Windstream network configurations or technology issues related to the circuit acceptance process.

  • Circuit Acceptance 
    • Maintain main group & personal queue, keeping within the allotted task intervals
    • Handle multiple tasks related to testing and acceptance of T1/Ethernet facilities
    • Test new T/Ethernet facilities at time of turn up from the ILEC
    • Responsible for opening trouble tickets with the ILEC’s on circuits that fail.
    • Work with ILECs, FSRs, and COLO technicians from ILEC offices, customer locations, and COLO sites to troubleshoot and correct loop/circuit issues
    • Perform hard loop & remote loopback testing with circuits
    • 2nd level escalations of orders/issues for peers & when necessary to insure timely delivery of services
    • Assist with training of new employees & peers
    • Back up peers during vacations or other absences
    • Represents the department in development projects.
  • Network Design Cross Connects
  • Conducts remote Digital Access and Cross-connect system (DACS) or Digital Cross-connect System (DCS) cross connects on T1 and above facilities (if applicable). 
  • Troubleshoot DACS/DCS cross-connect issues and the ability to add/remove cross-connects
  • Maintain proficiency with the following network access points used in the provisioning & testing of loops/circuits. Access points will include but are not limited to: 
  • REACT testing system
  • Centest testing system
  • Various MUXs - including but not limited to: 
    • Adtran 2800, 2820
    • Adtran 3000, 4303, 5000
    • Charles Industries Mux II
    • CAC Widebank Mux
  • Various DACs - including but not limited to: 
    • Telllabs 5500, 5500NGX
    • Alcatel 1631
    • CISCO 6732
    • Eastern Research DNX-11, DNX-88
    • Titan, T-Dax Titan
    • Lucent DMX
  • Various Routers – including but not limited to:
    • Cisco Core Routers
    • ASA 9000
    • Network PE Routers
    • Juniper Core Routers

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

High School graduate, two (2) years technical plus two (2) years experience or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years experience in the telecommunications industry.
