Position Overview:

Perform duties centered around installation, groom and disconnect activity for both TDM and Data circuits from DS0 to OC level, NNI and Gige.  Work shift determined by current workload.   Shifts are subject to change due to workload.  First shift is 8am-5pm and 3rd shift is 11pm – 7am.  Short notice extended hours could be required to work outages and escalations.


Responsibilities: 

  • Provision circuits within the network elements and coordinate testing as needed for new transport capacity
  • Research and troubleshoot down circuits due to grooming and/or disconnect activity worked by Access.   
  • Perform pre-testing and working grooms both coordinated or non-coordinated and submit MOP’s and execute MOP’s as needed
  • Dispatch and coordinate with LECs/Vendors and/or WIN Operations technicians if wiring and/or DSX cross-connects need to be made or testing needs to occur
  • Complete daily updates as to order activity in all appropriate WIN MSS databases.


Skills:

  • Working knowledge of data networking, particularly experienced with command line configurations for Layer 2 & 3, BGP, VRF, VOIP etc... on Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel and Hatteras platforms.
  • Advanced working knowledge of DS3 to OC level TDM networking, particularly experienced with provisioning ckts on Windstream Rings via the Cisco 15454, Alcatel ADM-48 & 1301, Nortel OC48 & Positron OC12-OC3, Lucent OC192 10g, Fujitsu, DMX, Turin, DACs and MUX pertaining to all heritage companies
  • Advanced working knowledge of DS1 TDM networking, particularly experienced with provisioning ckts in Windstream DMX, Turin, DACs, MUX, 5ESS, G9, DMS and Sonus pertaining to all heritage companies
  • Working knowledge responding to escalations and managing communication pertaining to the escalation
  • Develop training and process documentation to Coach and train other technicians




Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

Associate Degree in a technical discipline or 4-6 years technical experience with 4+ years directly related to the job.  College hours or a college degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.
