Job Overview: 

The Senior Property Accountant Candidate will be focused on compiling, reviewing, and delivering accurate monthly financial reporting through collaboration with operations and engineering workgroups.  The ideal candidate will work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to provide variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and ad hoc data requests.  The candidate will also contribute significantly to special projects associated with M&A, property valuations, property tax reporting, capital leasing initiatives, internal/external audit requests while mentoring staff to assist with these projects.


  • Review general ledger entries prepared by accountants I/II
  • Review of staff balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyzing and report on monthly financial statement variances, including collaboration with Engineering and Operations to ensure financial results are accurately presented
  • Work closely with property tax consulting firm on assessments, property tax payments, and accruals
  • Maintain capital leasing accounting initiatives and assist with implementation of new accounting standards
  • Mentor entry level accounting staff
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX controls; assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Knowledge of all accounting for property functions including property tax, asset capitalization, prepaid agreement amortization, and fixed asset accounting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting application
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, and management, to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Proactive, flexible, independent, inquisitive, and enthusiastic
  • CPA preferred, or other demonstration of ongoing career development
