The successful candidate will serve as a technical and subject matter expert for the IP Operations Center (IPOC) which provides Tier-2 Data Internetworking support for internal NOC verticals.  The IPOC provides 24x7x365 support for the Windstream service provider data network.  The network consists of routing and switching platforms from Juniper, Cisco, and Alcatel-Lucent devices as well as a variety of other data network equipment. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of data internet-networking is strongly required, particularly experience with IP Networks including: ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and the ability to rapidly learn new products and services.  


The successful candidate should possess intermediate to advanced data-troubleshooting knowledge of Routed and Switched IP-Networks and IP-based equipment to quickly diagnose and repair/mitigate core outage conditions. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to drive issues to resolution.  Analysts will interface via phone, video, chat, and ticketing systems with Windstream technicians, front-line technical reps, carrier techs, and vendor engineers to resolve issues, mitigate outages, and ensure that all steps are professionally documented.


Work is performed in shifts within a 24x7 Network Operations Center environment.  Candidates must be available for Full-time shift-work that may including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:  Associates Degree in Technical discipline (engineering, physics, computer science, etc.) and 4-6 years internetworking or electronics experience with 3+ years directly related to the job.  College hours or a college degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.

Desired Education and Experience:

• 4-year degree in a technical discipline (engineering, computer science, physics, etc.)

• 5+ years experience with IT/LAN/WAN in an Operations or Help-desk environment

• 5+ years of troubleshooting data network elements, protocols, services, and physical problems


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with Cisco, Juniper and/or Alcatel-Lucent routing and switching platforms.
  • Understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Understanding of Data Internetwork Routing and Complex Switching.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in data networking or closely related fields.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.

Desired Additional Qualifications:

  • Understanding of QoS, MPLS, BGP, VRF, SD-WAN, VPN, Multicast, Ether-Channel, VoIP.
  • Understanding of Advanced Hardware support for Cisco, Juniper, and/or Alcatel-Lucent.
  • Understanding of ATM, Frame Relay, OC-x, SONET, and TDM.
  • Understanding of broadband equipment, protocols, and networking.
  • Knowledge of central office transport equipment including test methods.
  • Experience Writing and/or Presenting technical training materials.
  • Scripting and/or Programming experience in a rapid pace environment.

Desired Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, NRS-I, NRS-II (one or more)
