The Information Security Engineer's role is to plan, design, implement and manage effective information security technology and processes in support of core security functions. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve system security issues in order to maximize the benefit if IT systems investments, and to protect the information resources of Windstream. 

  • Provides guidance and recommendations on how to properly configure, deploy and maintain IT infrastructure and applications. 
  • Research and track latest security threats and analyze impact to key Windstream security processes. Recommend IT policy, standards and methodology revisions to.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of key IT security process using Windstream's auditing and attack and penetration testing methodology.
  • Develops processes, scripts, and applications to align with the security architecture vision.
  • Oversees the installation, configuration and management of key IT security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, Vulnerability Scanning, Web Application Scanning, etc.).
  • Performs proof of concept testing to identify new or emerging security technologies and engineer them to benefit Windstream.

Required Skills / Competencies:
  • 7-10 years of System administration, information security, regulatory, scripting, development experience
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) preferred
  • Strong Linux/UNIX or Windows skills preferred.
  • Strong scripting and development experience (Perl, Python, PowerShell, C, C, C#, .NET, JAVA, Ruby, API integration, or other experience) preferred.
  • Other technical certifications a plus

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: 

Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Information
Technology, or related field preferred), equivalent experience, or a combination of work and education.
