About the Role:

Windstream’s team of GIS Draftspersons are vital team members who represent our leading telecommunications brand and are committed to providing current and accurate GIS records in order to supply the data and information needed to provide products and services to homeowners, small business, enterprise and carrier partners across the United States.


What You’ll Do:

  • Accurately pre-post and final post Outside Plant work orders to the master GIS database
  • Analyze design prints and confer with other departments to resolve details when not completely defined
  • Display, modify and correct existing GIS data using GIS software
  • Carry out drafting assignments of a routine to complex nature within the Windstream standards and practices
  • Log work order in OSP Jobtrac and update other tasks in various systems
  • Prepare layouts, drawings and designs according to engineering specifications using GIS software
  • Recognize, research and correct record issues
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Occasional travel may be required

Job Requirements

Do You Have?

  • Ability to learn Intergraph GIS software and ESRI maps
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to be a self-starter, able to work with little guidance
  • Ability to work in a self-directed work group, work easily with others and be a team player
  • Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work overtime at times to meet demands
  • Ability to process, file and maintain organized records electronically
  • 2-3 year technical / telephony experience preferred but not required
  • Strong computer skills a must

Even Better:

  • Associate Degree in GIS/CAD Drafting or experience directly related to drafting
  • Knowledge of OSP network components and symbology
  • Previous drafting experience with GIS Software, MicroStation, ESRI and/or other systems
  • Telecom network/system knowledge a plus
