Summary:


As an Analyst on the Broadband OSP Planning team, you will report to the Broadband OSP Planning Manager and provide support to a team of Planning Engineers, contributing directly to deploying a forward-looking outside plant network infrastructure and state-of-the-art broadband electronics to provide advanced telecommunication services to Windstream’s customers.

 
Typical Responsibilities:
  • Communicate daily with other work groups, both technical and non-technical, to provide timely updates and pass on information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Monitor request and task queues in various corporate systems. Analyze requests and make decisions on how best to prioritize, assign, and report on work requests that come to Planning from outside work groups.
  • Collaborate with the planning engineers to produce accurate planning packages for hand-off to the Broadband and OSP Design Engineering teams.
  • Provide regular reporting on team metrics. Analyze and summarize large data sets for use in recurring and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Assist with cost studies by compiling and organizing raw data provided by individual planning engineers into a consolidated format and summarize as needed.
  • Identify errors in Broadband and OSP records that could impact planning decisions and provide corrected data to the responsible parties to have records updated.
  • Assist with the documentation and management of fiber records and fiber assignments.
  • Provide support to the overall Broadband OSP Planning team on the various corporate IT systems used regularly by the organization.
  • Assist with creating and updating process documentation and maintain document Wiki pages on collaborative platforms such as Stream, Confluence, and SharePoint.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented with the ability to quickly identify errors and root cause and determine how best to correct them.
  • Team-oriented and experienced at working in a collaborative environment. Willing to consider the opinions of others and to think outside the box.
  • Strong desire to learn new skills and a willingness to embrace change with a positive attitude.
  • Experience in manipulating and analyzing large data sets and organizing/summarizing data from multiple sources into a clear and concise format for use by peers, managers, and executives.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, especially Microsoft Excel formulas, pivot tables. Experience with VBA development for Office is a plus.
  • Database experience using Quickbase, Microsoft Access, and/or SQL is desirable.
  • General telecom experience is desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity with IT applications used within the Broadband OSP Planning & Engineering organization such as Quickbase, MSS/ASAP, MIROR, GCOMMS/ArcGIS, JobTrac, and JIRA is desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Broadband and OSP vendor platforms such as Adtran, Calix, Optelian, Adva/Hatteras, Ciena/Cyan, Charles Industries, Alpha Power is desirable, but not required.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:  

College degree and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience required.
