Overview:

As the Technical Product Manager – Programmable Networks you will act as the product owner for the development and introduction of services such as SD-WAN and Security built upon a proprietary platform being developed by Windstream. You will be responsible for market research, feature/function and platform definition, product roadmaps and lifecycle and the go to market motions for the offerings.  You will be expected to be as comfortable discussing the features and functionality with the sales team and end users are you are with discussing the underlying technology and systems with engineers and developers.

The Technical Product Manager – Programmable Networks plans, develops and executes effective prospecting and marking plans to increase product penetration and ARPU and drives operational excellence to increase the margins and improve the customer experience of all programmable network-based offerings. This position leverages technology being built within Windstream and operational partnerships along with big data and analytics exposed internally and externally to deliver market leading service offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the customer needs and analyze the competitive environment in the converging SD-WAN and Security market and maintain a go to market plan for the product, pricing, placement, and promotion of the offering
  • Define and provide direction into the activities and priorities for a programmable network development team focused on SD-WAN and Security
  • Understand the end user and market requirements in the defined space and document technical user stories for the development team
  • Understand the technical capabilities and feature/functionality of the offering and translate for sales/customer consumption
  • Create and prioritize quote to cash epics and user stories, complete with success criteria and testing parameters
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing on the platform, features and functionality and report against the user story success criteria
  • Once the offering is launched you will be the liaison between our service provider partners and the development team for ongoing enhancements and optimization

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience as the product owner working in collaborative agile development environments
  • Familiarity and ease of communication in highly technical and (not highly technical) environments
  • Advanced understanding of the networking, security, and cloud industries and capabilities
  • Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies using OpenStack and KVM and secondarily AWS, GCE, Azure, Xen, VMware, and Hyper-V
  • Working knowledge of network protocols including Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, NAT/PAT, BGP, MPLS, and OpenFlow
  • Understanding of SD-WAN, SDN and SDN controllers such as ONOS, Ryu, or ODL and NFV
  • Must be familiar with microservice and cloud architecture, patterns, principles, and container technologies such as Docker, LCX and LXD, and container platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm
  • Must be familiar with continuous integration technologies such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Maven, Gradle, Gerrit, Git, and other DevOps tools and best practices
  • Understanding of security functions including cloud and premises based stateful firewalls, next generation firewalls, Cloud web Security, Firewall as a service, remote access, zero trust network access, in-line, and API cloud access security brokerage
  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred, in Business, Marketing, Technology, or equivalent work experience
  • College degree in a Technical or related field and 10 years professional level experience; or 14 years professional level related Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Technical experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience providing product direction to high performing teams
  • 10 years’ experience in Network or IT services technical product management or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Sales Engineering capacity in a technology provider environment
  • Experience in defining go to market activities for existing logo and new logo acquisition
  • Experience in Networking, SD-WAN, Application Optimization, Network Based Firewall, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, and other network and security functionality.
