Position Overview:



Reporting to the Director of the Product Verification Team in Ottawa, the Senior Product Verification Engineer is responsible for the technical verification of the silhouette hosted VoIP key system as well as the interoperability of all our portfolio products such as NowMessage, OpenLink, Call Center Services, and vertical market client applications. Working closely with the product technology functional teams in R&D, Verification, Operations and management, the position entails evaluating functional requirements,  constructing test strategies and plans, executing test plans, driving the implementation of formal verification methods and assessing the overall product design quality.  





Responsibilities:




  • Full product lifecycle of test activities, including estimating verification effort, planning, developing test plans, test case execution and maintaining and supporting a production product

  • Ownership and stewardship of verification activities for product features and ongoing evolution of the verification activities of call processing and system level characterization.

  • Test case management activities for scalability and reuse of test cases

  • Work with cross functional teams to interpret product requirements, review feature specifications and provide feedback.

  • Work on a combination of the Web UI, call processing and high availability subsystems of the product.

  • Deliver high-quality test plans as well as manage your time in order to meet the set deliverables.

  • Will be responsible for ensuring that test execution activities are carried out on test environments that have integrity and match specified requirements.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex incidents

  • Ability to communicate product quality issues in a clear, concise and timely manner

  • Mentoring junior and intermediate software testers.

  • Become an effective contributor to the overall Product Factory.







Qualifications:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 6-8+ years of experience in a Product Verification environment and good understanding of Carrier Grade Product Verification processes and techniques

  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading teams, mentoring/coaching junior level resource

  • Experience with test activities involving Call processing / Telephony / VoIP / SIP / Minet and associated protocols.

  • Development of test plans, test cases and test environments for technical integration activities

  • Extensive knowledge of functional/integration level testing as well as system level testing to verify performance, robustness and interoperability capabilities.

  • Ability to do high level planning and develop test estimates

  • Proactively identify product short-comings during feature definition/design and reactively during testing phases.

  • Proactively update test cases on an as needed basis to enhance feature and system level verification activities

  • Participate in the development, implementation and execution of automated test methods while leveraging existing test suites.

  • Experience in Call Processing / Telephony environment

  • Experience with troubleshooting complex issues using a systematic approach to fault isolation

  • Raise quality defect reports and raise/troubleshoot issues / reproduce and characterize problems

  • Work closely with software developers and Operations team to ensure that issues are resolved.

  • Good understanding of carrier-grade requirements in terms of high availability and scalability

  • Experience with databases

  • Experience interfacing with external corporations who develop third party applications

  • Good knowledge of web UI testing and troubleshooting

  • Ability to successfully work in a small multi-site team environment

  • Knowledge of verification activities involving LINUX and VMware Server environments

  • Knowledge of UNIX / LINUX scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, Python etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to identify areas of cost saving and reuse





Other desirable experience:




  • Experience in automated verification technologies

  • Any industry training with Cisco, Juniper or other recognized network vendors would be an asset





Minimum Requirements: This is based on the position’s pay grade. These are locked down by the compensation department and cannot be edited by the manager.





Working conditions




  • There may be times when overtime is required.  The candidate must be willing to work overtime when needed.

  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.

Job Requirements

College degree in a Technical or related field and 3-5 years professional level experience with 0-1 year supervisory experience for roles with supervision; or 7 years professional level related Technical experience with 0-1 year supervisory experience for roles with supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Technical experience required.
