The Sales Training Expert / Principal - Learning & Development will be responsible for the development and execution of sales-facing strategic programs within the Learning & Development organization.

The explicit goal of this position is to use your skills in Sales, Training, and Leadership Development to ensure our Salesforce is equipped with the core information, knowledge, skills, tools, and resources they need to be successful at Windstream.   We must always strive to compress learning ramp time, align and connect all training efforts with the business and each other, and increase overall productivity of our customers.

Your previous experience in working directly with sales and sales leadership will help you to identify gaps in sales, systems, and process skills and allow you to understand and recommend the best method to address those skill gaps. 

Working with an experienced team of Instructional Designers, and Facilitation experts, you’ll help to prioritize the development and delivery of content that will drive our Windstream sales experts to new successes.  You will also be part of the “Faculty”, representing Sales, that ensures the success of our live “Simulation Lab” for new sales employees.  By participating in live role plays, facilitating sales discussions, and providing real-time coaching to our new sales team members, you will directly be part of building something great – a successful new sales team member. 

Working directly with our Sales Directors, use your skills in developing sales people to help our Coaches be better Coaches by directly participating in our Coaching For Performance program. 

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Prepares new and existing sales representatives in multiple channels across Windstream Enterprise and Windstream Wholesale by developing and facilitating effective sales content and coaching sales and sales leadership.
  • Focus on strategic objectives around the transformation of the employee onboarding process and alignment with organizational change
  • Working directly with leadership of the assigned functional areas to develop sales skills, improve productivity, and reduce employee churn:
  • Review Coaching For Performance Coaching Plans to assist Sales Directors in developing their sales people
  • Perform continual skill gap assessments with sales people and sales leadership in their assigned functional group and define methods to close those gaps
  • Provide coaching and development of leadership and reinforcement of al Windstream Learning & Development architecture and programs
  • Manage all new sales training requests
    • Document request
    • Vet request for validity
    • Prioritize with Learning & Development leadership
    • Define success criteria, measurement, and reporting
    • Work with Development teams to ensure development meets the desired outcomes
  • Provide faculty facilitation during Simulation Labs and other Live Sessions as needed
  • Provide expertise into the development and delivery of continuing education modules to ensure continued sales growth and expertise
  • Be a direct resource as required for all sales professionals, sales leadership, and other Learning & Development team members
  • Responsible for timely updates to all internal resources that sales people may use that aids in their productivity including Pilot’s Guide, Maneuvers Guide and any other resources for assigned group(s)
  • Provide input into additional support areas for operational process improvements

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  

College degree and 8 years professional level experience with 3-4 years supervisory experience; or 12 years professional level related experience with 3-4 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience desired.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:
  • 7 years experience working directly withEnterprise level sales and sales leadership performing coaching andfacilitation
  • Previous experience as a quota bearing salesprofessional
  • 5 years formal classroom facilitation
  • 5 years of enterprise level experiencefacilitating and coaching to a standardized sales process
  • Familiarity with adult learning techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office includingPowerPoint and Excel.
  • Extensive background in classroom facilitationand management
  • Extensive background in results (outcome) basedcurriculum development
  • Able to work in a swiftly changing environmentand capable of thinking on their feet and implementing changes to curriculumand structure often real-time
  • Position will require periodic overnight travelup to 5 nights at a time during Simulation Lab.
  • Position can be located in any major Windstreammarket with sales presence. Preferred locations Chicago, Charlotte, Denver,Little Rock or Rochester.
