General Summary:

Primarily assists in the planning of outside plant jobs involving the installation, removal or rearrangement of outside plant facilities; provides construction drawings and measurements specifying the location of such outside plant facilities using plans and specifications provided by engineering personnel; keeps reports and records; inspects job sites and fills out inspection review forms.
Perform other work as assigned or as business needs demand.

-Internal applicants must have satisfactory performance in all respects of current position.
-If applicable, must successfully complete prerequisite training and testing.
-Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable.
-Must be able to effectively communicate with the public, co-workers and managers.
-Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.Must be available for overtime, after hours call-outs or work during non-scheduled hours.Must be available to work assigned schedules, including Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
-Must be neat in appearance, be able to write legibly, and prepare and maintain neat and accurate records.
-Must be willing and ready to work in any assigned location and to attend schools for training, which may require over night travel as determined by the Company.
-Must demonstrate the ability to learn and use a variety of current and future applications, test systems or information systems as they are developed.
-Must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience/education to include customer service and/or related telephony fields.
-Experience in outside plant work to the extent of knowing the operating limitations of outside plant equipment, and the principles involved in aerial and buried cable placement and general engineering aptitudes.
-Experience in one or more of the following jobs are desired: Cable Splicer, Field Drafter, Facility Assigner, Line Worker.
-Drafting experience is necessary.
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue print and procedure manuals.
-Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
-Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
-Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
-Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
-Must have a working knowledge of computers and any applicable applications.
-Must meet weight requirements as defined in Windstream’s Safe Load Limits for Equipment and Ladders Policy.
-Must have knowledge of digital switching, transport systems (i.e. SONET, DS3, DS1, analog fiber), ISDN, DSL, analog and digital data, PX, and VOIP.
-Must participate in Windstream Rewards program, which includes selling Company products and services to existing/potential customers.
-Must reside within a reasonable distance of assigned reporting center

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Valid driver's license, able to meet medical and driver certification. Requirements as established by the DOT Federal Highway Safety Act. Not restricted to daylight hours. May require more specialized driver’s license, such as Chauffeur’s License, based on state regulations. CDL may be required
