About the Role:

  • The Wholesale Transport Test and Turn Up team reads circuit designs to build circuits in equipment on our transport network in preparation to deliver to Wholesale customers or other Wholesale Windstream departments. Our services include, but are not limited to, TDM from DS3 to OC192 and Ethernet from 5 meg up to 100 GIG.
  • For circuits we’re tasked with delivering to customers, we contact customers to gain their acceptance of the service. If needed, we work with the customer to resolve any issues preventing them from successfully activating the service.
  • We issue dispatch tickets to field to verify wiring or assist us with testing, we work with off-net providers, and issue cases to vendor support and work with other departments as needed to resolve issues.
  • Sometimes the needs of our customers and our business causes us to need to work outside of normal business hours. This flexibility is desired in this position.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provides on-call support for assigned devices as scheduled by SD TTU management
  • Performs off-hours maintenance window emergency procedures, upgrades, and reconfigurations as specified in MOPs
  • Demonstrates familiarity and compliance with NOC and standards, policies and processes
  • Utilizes and teaches all vendor-provided and -provided tools and applications for the assigned devices
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Do You Have?

  • Intermediate knowledge of Telecommunications
  • Intermediate knowledge of SONET, DWDM, ROADM, or other Transport Technologies
  • Intermediate knowledge of RFC testing
  • Intermediate knowledge of Metasolv (NGMSS)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Remedy ticketing system
  • Intermediate knowledge of JIRA ticketing system
  • Intermediate level of understanding circuit designs and Engineering packages (including drawings)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Nortel/Preside Classic; Fujitsu Flashwave/FLM & Netsmart; Cisco/Cerent 15454 & 15600 CTC/CTM; Ciena/Cyan; Turin; Transmode; Infinera DNA; Coriant; DMX; Accedian Metronodes/Metronids; Lucent/Alcatel 1601 & 1631
  • Intermediate understanding of OTN technology
  • Problemsolving skills
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft products
  • Must be customer focused
  • Must be a team player & a selfstarter
  • Must be detail oriented

Minimum Requirements:

  • College degree in Engineering or related field and 24 years professional level experience in related field; or 6+ years of professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Associate Degree in a technical discpline and 4-6 years technical/telephony experience with 4 years directly related to the job; or 7 years of directly related telephony or network operations experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required.
