About the Role:

The Network Analyst II/III-NOC position is within our IP-Access NOC and entails responsibility for monitoring, identifying and troubleshooting issues, and repair of the Windstream IP and Access network. More specifically, responsibilities will include troubleshooting/redesigning issues on the backbone IP, ATM, Voice over ATM, VoIP Networks as well as a knowledge of transport infrastructure and ability to work with multilayers issues. This position operates in a 24x7 environment and will entail working weekends and holidays. The incumbent will be required to work in a high-pressure environment and react to repair tickets involving the transport network, as well as coordinate with Engineering, Field Operations, and OSP Engineering and IT to successfully clear Windstream troubles within pre-determined MTTR (mean time to repair) guidelines.

  • Professionally interact with both internal and external customers
  • Accurately use tools to test DWDM and OCN, outages
  • Utilize knowledge of ATM and IP switches and routers
  • Communicate equipment and design issues with other internal groups
  • Precise and complete ticket notation
  • Adhere to all department processes and administrative documentation

Do You Have?

  • Ability to effectively isolate issues in a timely manner
  • Thorough understanding of sub-tended equipment and circuits
  • Ability to effectively direct field technicians and other personnel during troubleshooting and maintenance activities
  • Thorough understanding of change management
  • Ability to work with vendors and vendors technical support to resolve the problem and protect Windstream Network
  • Shift work and on-call responsibility                            
  • Computer skills including Excel, Outlook, Visio
  • Strong time management skills
  • Attention to detail and good troubleshooting methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

Even Better:

  • Experience with the following equipment: Fujitsu Flashwave product line (7420,4500, 4100, FLM150, FLM2400, Lucent DDM2000, Lucent DMX; Hatteras, Overture, Alcatel 1640, 1648, 1603; Turin; Nortel OC48 Classic; Tellabs 5500, Alcatel 1631, Cyan Z33/Z77, Cisco ONS 15454, Cisco CPT, Infinera, Ciena 4200,6500 z series, Tellabs 7100; Huawei, DSLAMs and Packet Aggregators. ATM Switches (Nokia) and IP Switches and Routers. Knowledge of IP protocols (BGP, ISIS, MPLS)
  • Familiarity with CWDM/DWDM (i.e., C-band, L-band, Digital DWDM) theories and protocols, as well as experience with troubleshooting wavelengths (OCN long haul systems)
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting SONET issues (i.e., T3/T1, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, and OC-192) as well as troubleshooting and isolating issues on IP and ATM Networks
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and 4-6 years technical/telephony experience with 5 years directly related to the job; or 8 years of directly related telephony or network operations experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required.
