About the Job:

This is an entry level role, which monitors the network systems and applications for events and outages, creates and routes tickets to the appropriate break/fix team and communicates events and outages to the business. This role will be focused on monitoring Windstream’s Power and Environmental network and infrastructure with the opportunity for a candidate to broaden their knowledge and career path into Network Operations Transport or IP disciplines or further in Power and Environmental. A successful candidate will have a basic understanding of telecommunications networks and equipment with a beginner’s knowledge of Power and Environmental Plant and systems, IP, Voice or Transport disciplines and platforms. The candidate will be available 24X7X365 to work any shifts, as necessary, including holidays and weekends.

Expected areas of experience include working in a team environment, ability to multi-task and track various items concurrently, quick learning capabilities.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor network devices, interfaces and applications via Netcool.
  • Correlate multiple network and customer issues identified with alarms / alerts received
  • Create and track incident tickets and assignments
  • Create/Assign incident tickets based on priority, impact and complexity to appropriate fix agents
  • Create and manage dispatch tickets
  • Issue outage notification event communications
  • Initiate major outage communication technical bridges
  • Escalate incidents according to process
  • Strict adherence to policy, process and procedure
  • Accountable to achieve productivity metric requirements
  • Available to work 24X7X365
  • Available to change shifts at any time with 2 weeks warning

Special Requirements/ Certifications:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of telecom networks and equipment.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Associate Degree in a technical discipline and 3-4 years technical/telephony experience with 3 years directly related to the job; or 6 years of directly related telephony or network operations experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required.
