As the Director, Product Design for Kinetic you will be responsible for overseeing the development and management of software platforms to create, manage, and publish digital content, such as websites, blogs, and online applications, defining the product strategy, understanding user needs, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our front-end web applications are capturing the necessary analytics data to inform product strategies and decision-making.
Position Role / Summary:
The Director of Product Design for Kinetic will lead the Marketing team in creating and evolving innovative web products for our customers. This role will have one direct report and is responsible for overseeing the entire product design process, from conducting Product Discovery and brainstorming initial product ideas to creating the final designs and high-fidelity prototypes. The Director of Product Design will also work closely with other departments, such as engineering, product management, marketing, and sales to ensure our products meet customer needs and align with our company goals.
What you’ll do:
• Lead all aspects of product design for windstream.com including both net new experiences and enhancements to existing experiences.
• This is a player/coach role, requiring both high quality design deliverables and mentorship of at least one junior/mid-level Product Designer.
• Research, plan and execute all design aspects of the redesign of windstream.com, ensuring that it satisfies all aspects of contemporary web design best practices across all devices.
• Lead and mentor the product design team, and adjacent groups, in creating innovative and user-friendly products.
• Rapidly deliver high fidelity prototypes for iterative user testing.
• Collaborate closely with the product development, marketing and sales teams.
• Understand customer needs and business goals to guide design efforts.
• Oversee the entire design process, from initial concept to final product design.
• Evolve and define a robust design system consisting of reusable components to minimize time-to-market and maximize design and development efficiency.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure final customer experience execution aligns with the original Product Design vision.
• Partner with Brand and Creative teams to ensure site assets and copy align with brand guidelines and direction.
• Perform user research as needed throughout the design process.
• Develop personas and user journeys to inform the design process and create customized digital experiences.
• Leverage web analytics frequently in order to assess customer pathing and the success/failure of existing and new design patterns.
• Rapidly develop new landing page designs as needed for a large and dynamic in-house digital marketing organization.
Do you have: • Bachelor’s degree in design, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience/certifications • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role • Fluency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and other leading design tools, as required. • Experience using analytics platforms such as Tableau, Google Analytics 360, FullStory to assess user behavior. • Experience defining AB testing strategies to learn and iterate as rapidly as possible. • Experience leveraging user research platforms such as usertesting.com. • Demonstrable exposure to, and participation in, formal Product Discovery techniques involving a diverse set of stakeholders. Judicious deployment of these techniques depending on the needs of the business. • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team. • Excellent understanding of the product design process. • Strong design project management skills. • Ability to collaborate with disparate teams and stakeholders. • Experience in both a fast-paced, startup-like environment and a larger enterprise environment. • Proven track record of designing successful products. • Proficiency and comfort with Agile/Scrum methodologies. Desired Qualifications: College degree and 10 years professional level experience with 3-5 years supervisory experience; or 14 years professional level related experience with 3-5 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related experience desired.
